Polar bear at Palandabukta, Svalbard
Watercolour and acrylic 28 x 76 cm £340 framed £270 unframed
I sketched a good number of polar bears during my visit to Svalbard in June/July 2018. This mother with two cubs was in a particularly splendid location. They spent most of the day doing nothing, but eventually got up and wandered off. I have moved things around slightly to emphasise the melting fast ice and glacier behind — the scale of the place. A little party of Brunnich's guillemots fly past in the background.
